Ross Baker is the protagonist. He is an overworked and underpaid scientist working for a medical corporation known as Neurosphere. Although the game depicts the same events, they are presented here at a different angle - Heather Quinn (aka Athena) is the main character of the game and she works in the same corporation. One day, she decides to volunteer in the process of testing a new technology, because she got bored with ordinary work in the laboratory. As a result of having her brain scanned, Heather managed to get away not only from boredom, but also the real world. The protagonist discovers that she is now in the world of a video game Starfire – Heather used to play this game when she was young.
