Similarly to the first installment in the series, the PC release of Risk of Rain 2 does not feature any elaborate story. Once again, a player assumes the role of a character traversing the surface of an unknown distant planet with the objective of surviving in this unwelcoming environment and exploring locations filled with aggressive adversaries. In the game, a player observes the action from the third person perspective (TPP). Similarly to other games representing this genre, one has to move between platforms, avoid countless traps, and fight the opponents using an elaborate arsenal as well as unique skills of particular characters. In comparison to its predecessor, Risk of Rain 2 offers improved character development system and elaborate crafting mechanics.
