This time you play as a Metis named Connor, and the story is set in North America in the years 1753-1783. The boy is a fruit of love of an Indian woman and a British man. The story proper begins with a conflict between Indians and colonists, resulting in Connor’s home village being destroyed. The boy decides to dedicate his life to fighting tyranny and pursuing justice. The plot is being unfold around such events as e.g. the siege of Boston by a small army under George Washington, the Great Fire of New York, and Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride. The story was moved to a new historical period, but the underlying mechanisms were not drastically changed. Again you get a chance to freely explore large urban areas, and the emphasis traditionally was put on killing and use of acrobatics for moving around. This does not mean, however, that the developers did not introduce any innovations. Compared with the previous installments, you spend much more time on the ground, acting like an unseen predator. The new assassin is much more aggressive than his predecessors, and in combat, apart from the classic hidden blade, he uses a tomahawk. Along with that go numerous improvements to combat system. E.g. you can now perform a double counter, and the game marks opponents for you, without you having to do that manually.
