The game takes stadium tracks from extremely popular TrackMania Nations Forever and recreates them on TrackMania 2 engine. The original game won sympathy of millions of people, so the developers took no risk of introducing any drastic changes, instead focusing mainly on adjustments. Among these there is much better graphics, with more details and advanced lighting effects. TrackMania 2: Stadium benefits from all features offered by ManiaPlanet platform, so fans were given access to latest social features and extensive map editor, which allows importing new 3D objects.

Gameplay mechanics are mostly unchanged. TrackMania 2: Stadium offers utterly arcade driving model which puts effectiveness and high speed over realism. The characteristic feature of the series are unusual tracks, full of twists and turns, which requires performing flashy acrobatics. The game offers both single player and multiplayer gameplay. At the same time, great emphasis was put on modding tools and social features. Users can create their own tracks and share them with other fans using ManiaPlanet service.
